Frequently Asked Questions
We know starting something new can come with questions. Below are the most common ones we hear from families. If you do not see your question here, please text or call us 314-461-1877. We are happy to help.
Getting Started
How do I sign up for the 4-Class Trial?
Visit our Registration 1-2-3 page for step-by-step instructions. If you would rather have some help choosing the right program or class, call or text us at 314-461-1877. We’re happy to help!
What is the 4-Class Trial?
One class does not tell the whole story. The 4-Class Trial includes four consecutive weekly classes. This gives your child time to become comfortable in a new environment, build trust with their coach, experience the class routine and try each of the events included in the program more than one time.
It also gives our coaches time to get to know your child and help determine the best class for continued enrollment.
How do I choose the right program for my child?
The easiest way is to start by age.
- Ages 4 and under begin in Tumbling Tigers
- Age 5 may choose Silly Stripes (in the Tumbling Tigers program) or a Tumbling class
- Ages 6 and up may enroll in Tumbling or our All-around Gymnastics program
Many parents say “tumbling” when they mean full gymnastics. Our team is happy to guide you to the right fit.
Can my child try more than one program?
We recommend beginning with the program that appears to be the best fit based on your child’s age, interests and experience. If it doesn’t feel quite right, we’ll be happy to help you explore another option.
What will my child learn during the trial?
Your child will begin learning:
- How to move safely through the gym
- Class routines, rules and terminology
- Foundational gymnastics or tumbling skills
- How to listen, take turns and participate confidently
Four classes provide more than one opportunity to experience most activities, allowing children to become more comfortable as the trial progresses.
What happens after the trial?
Your child’s next class will depend on their program:
- Tumbling Tigers: Children remain in an age-appropriate class.
- All-Around Gymnastics: Gymnasts generally move from the Level 1 trial into Level 2 unless a coach recommends a different placement.
- Tumbling: Students remain in the appropriate skill level until they are ready to advance.
We’ll help you understand your child’s placement and membership options before the trial ends
Can we become members before all four trial classes are completed?
Absolutely! Enrolling early allows you to secure a spot in your preferred class. Your child will still complete all four trial classes before moving into their ongoing class.
Preparing for Class
What should my child wear?
Your child does not need special equipment or an expensive uniform to get started.
- Tumbling Tigers: A leotard is preferred, but comfortable, fitted activewear is also acceptable.
- All-Around Gymnastics: A leotard is preferred. A one-piece swimsuit may also be worn during the trial.
- Tumbling: A leotard, one-piece swimsuit, or fitted T-shirt and athletic shorts may be worn.
For safety, clothing should cover the stomach and back and should not have zippers, snaps or buttons. Please do not wear jewelry or two-piece dancewear or swimwear.
How should my child’s hair be worn?
Longer hair must be pulled back securely and kept out of the child’s face.
When should we arrive?
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for your first class. This gives you time to park, check in and help your child get settled.
Where should we go when we arrive?
For your first class, enter through the front office at:
12975 Maurer Industrial Drive
Look for the blue awning marked 12975, facing the cul-de-sac.
Please do not enter through the awning marked 12977 on your first day. We’ll explain any alternate entrance your child may use in the future.
Where should we park?
Please park in the spaces along our fence or around the back of the building. Do not park directly in front of the building in the cul-de-sac.
After 5:00 p.m., you may also use available spaces belonging to neighboring businesses. Families attending classes in the Tiger Den will receive additional parking and entrance instructions after their first visit.
Programs and Progress
What is the difference between gymnastics and tumbling?
Program | What Students Use and Learn | How Students Advance |
|---|---|---|
Tumbling Tigers | Age-appropriate bars, beam, floor, vault and trampoline activities, along with motor skills and school-readiness concepts | Children move through the program primarily according to age |
All-Around Gymnastics | Bars, beam, floor, vault and trampoline, with skills such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, jumps, balances and beginning bar skills | Students advance after mastering the skills required for their level |
Tumbling | Floor, trampoline and tumble track, with skills ranging from rolls, bridges and cartwheels to walkovers and handsprings | Students advance after mastering the skills required for their level |
How will I know whether my child is progressing?
Coaches track members’ skills in the Spirits app, where families can review progress. You may also speak with your child’s coach or program coordinator if you have questions.
Is my child learning more than gymnastics?
Definitely. Along with physical skills, students develop confidence, coordination, listening skills, perseverance, discipline and the ability to work with coaches and classmates.
